Konica Minolta Dimage Z2 4MP Digital Camera with 10x
Optical Zoom
The stylish, SLR-style Konica Minolta Dimage Z2 is offers appealing features for a wide variety of photographers--from sports enthusiasts to serious wildlife photographers. Packed with power, yet easy to use, the Dimage Z2 features an amazing 10x optical zoom lens, quick startup time (1.8 seconds), and a rapid autofocus (the fastest for digital cameras of this class as of January, 2004) that helps you capture images in virtually any situation. It also offers a 4-megapixel resolution, VGA-quality video mode with audio, and a real-motion LCD monitor. The zoom works very well as well as the two macro modes. The video shooting capacity offers a variety of sizes to choose from. Can't say anything about pictures taken with it being very noisy or anything like that. Picture quality depends on many external factors, and there is no need to repeat endlessly that megapixels alone do not determine the quality and are not the first thing to look at when choosing a digi camera. The camera's three compression modes are ok if we remember that the jpeg format uses irrecoverable compression. The camera came with a 16 MB card plus a 64 MB bonus card. Not too much for shooting videos extensively but for taking pictures it suffices. For shaky hands this camera may not be very convenient.

Konica Minolta Dimage A2 8MP Digital Camera with 7x
Anti Shake Optical Zoom
Konica Minolta updates it's Dimage A1 with the 8-megapixel SLR-type Dimage A2, featuring a fast, innovative new 3D autofocusing (AF) system, anti-shake function for still images and VGA-quality videos, and a continuous advance of 7 frames per second. The Dimage A2 also offers a 7x optical zoom, high-quality, 30 fps video, high resolution electronic viewfinder, and a wide range of professional photographic features--from RAW image recording to live histogram readout and in-camera color management There is undoubtedly a learning curve associated with the Dimage A2. Since it has 8.0 mega pixels under the hood, making some final touches in post-processing can dramatically improve the final image. One of the Dimage's most beneficial features of this camera is the real-time histogram. I'm also impressed with the quality of the electronic view finder (EVF).

Konica Minolta Dimage X31 3.2MP Digital Camera with 3x
Optical Zoom
Konica Minolta Photo Imaging U.S.A., Inc.'s Dimage X31, a new addition to the Dimage X-series of digital cameras, is a 3.2 megapixel digital camera that combines a fast startup speed, thin and stylish design, and intuitive operation in a very affordable entry-level digital camera model. The Dimage X31 is packed with creative options that make digital photography fun. Sophisticated technology and responsive performance make this tiny, stylish camera a joy to use. I immediately realized the that designers got a lot of things right but skimped on what matters most in a camera: the image quality. Almost all of my images turned out to be extremely grainy. The only ones that were half-way decent were outdoor shots in bright sunlight. All my other shots (mostly indoor with moderate lighting) turned out to be unacceptably noisy. Even then there was a fair amount of noise in all my shots. Adding to the problem was the extreme lack of fine resolution. Normally smooth edges appeared jagged and blurry and noise is evident even in good lighting conditions

Konica Minolta Dimage Z3 4MP Digital Camera with Anti
Shake 12x Optical Zoom
The DiMAGE Z3 is a high-speed, 4-megapixel digital camera with a 12X optical mega zoom lens. With a CCD-shift Anti-Shake System, the Z3 gives you amazingly steady and reliable telephoto shots even at the maximum magnification. Plus, Rapid AF ensures that you capture moving subjects clearly. The DiMAGE Z3's advanced, high-sensitivity 4-megapixel CCD combines with Konica Minolta's proprietary CxProcess II technology to give you images as beautiful as those you see with your own eyes. Despite its powerful 12X optical zoom, the Z3 sports a lightweight, compact body with a stylish, modern design. An ergonomic grip makes it easy and comfortable to carry and the large, intuitive button layout keeps you in confident control at all times.
The stabilization feature works very well, as does the macro modes. It does everything the literature says it will do. Except take a decent picture. I took a few and printed them off, the color was off and grainy, no matter what quality setting of the camera. Some pics even turned out yellowish. The image viewing software is rather difficult to manipulate, and kept shutting down my computer. It eats batteries. The LCD is VERY small, and hard to see in sunlight. The memory card door is also VERY flimsy and could be easily broken. If you decide you want an external flash, Minolta is proprietary, they range from $150-$450 for a flash. I'm pretty disappointed. I was hoping for a good out of the box camera that was easy to operate with good pictures as a result. Not so.

Minolta Dimage Z1 3.2MP Digital Camera w/ 10x Optical
Zoom
Ergonomically designed, SLR-styled, and packed with powerful automatic and manual controls, the Minolta Dimage Z1 is a great choice for advanced photographers. It features an amazing 10x optical zoom, 3.2-megapixel resolution, and a 30 frame-per-second movie mode with sound.
While RAW format pictures would be nice, it still takes pictures good enough if you turn the compression all the way down. With the resolution cranked and the compression at a minimum, the 3.2 shots come out to between 1.2MB and 1.6MB each. With a 256MB memory card, this is the setting I usually leave it on, and I have never run out of memory.
The auto focus on the system overall is pretty good. It is fast, as long as you are patient enough to wait for it to settle down. It has a very difficult time with low light situations and I frequently find myself using the manual focus mode. An illuminator would help greatly, and they do have one on their hot shoe mount flashes.
